Securities and Exchange Commission accuses Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban of insider trading.
Everybody keeps saying what a genius this guy is, and yet he risks his multi-billion dollar fortune and 'good name' to avoid a $750,000 loss ?! Yeah, what a GENIUS.... His is the classic case of a bonehead being in the right place at the right time, and getting the most out of the dot-com bubble before it burst. Hope they throw not just the book at him but an entire library -- it's about time someone reined in this jerk!
It is about time he got his privates roasted. There is never enough for people like him.
Just because someone is indicted does not make one guilty. Mark is a man of integrity, and I stand beside him until a court of law says differently. Whether rich or poor, you responders, do not pass judgement on anyone without knowing the facts. Good luck Mark!!
Interesting, everyone on the left is more than willing to accuse guilt before innocence unless it is one of their own then there is an uproar of discrimination, unfair treatment or an "unbalanced" media. Still trying to figure out how text messages from Foley get 3 months of media on the nightly news and the Mahoney his replacement has 2 affairs on his "clean bid" election and it doesn't get page 20 or any air time.
I would assume this is another Dem Hack job, the Dems were pissed at thim and they are researching him out. Look at Joe the Plumber.
what a joke they come up to you and say we are going to do a secondary are you interested? How many others were offered the same information and bought at a lower price or sold? This is not insider trading. How about going after the hedge funds who broke wall street with all there lies and short selling......
Mark did not lie Marth did big difference
Our system is very bias as to who it prosecutes or attempts to prosecute. I don’t know the whole story and will never know the truth though the media, so it’s hard to past judgment. I don’t really know Mark Cuban either. All I can judge by is how he treats his players and how he runs his organization. He stood up for a black boy who was wrongfully charged for sex crime with a white girl. Our society and especially the South have its way of getting back at people for acts it does not approve of. I’m glad he has the money to fight it and I hope he does.
I read an interesting post, "call out the government and they will come after you." You said it all. Mark Cuban is a decent man, gives a lot of money away, I can attest to that. He did call out the government and they don't like that one bit. Mark, fight them with all you got. People only call him greedy because they don't know him. He'll probably take that 750G and donate it along with lots more to charity.
I find it amusing that a majority of the people seem to believe that the SEC and other regulators sit around trying to figure out how they can screw people over, especially the high profile ones. Generally where there is smoke there is fire. Nothing against Mark Cuban personally, but generally high profile people get to the point where they think they are above the law or will just take their chances and, of caught, work their way out of it. Martha did do her time for purgery, a criminal offense. Here we are talking about a civil action that could result only in monetary damages, unless he feels compelled to lie also. Unfortunately, big money people like Mr. Cuban usually have loads of money to beat such charges, generally on technicalities or ambiguities. I am not a regulator myself, but have found that the greatest majority of people who are, including those that work for the SEC, do so to some extent out of a sense of making the business environment that we all depend on one that is safe, fair and protected from those that take advantage or circumvent the law.
lets see...buys in early... is then told that a fundamental factor has changed that he WAS NOT informed of when he invested...that negatively effects his return...so he sells to mitigate further damage...hmmm...sounds likea SMART business decision to me...ooops....i forgot..the government says thats not allowed...
I would do the same thing...business is business...
it is only my opinion that this goes on all the time, thats what the rich do for each other....and whats sad is while these piddly amounts of money to them, is multiple years of salary to most of us. he must have really ticked someone off.
Wow. $750 K doesn't even cover Cuban's fines by the NBA over the past 8 years. Guess he's as careful with his trading as he is with his mouth.
WHOA!!!!!!!!!! He is accused not "found guilty". Are the jealous pushing for premature justice just because he is rich. Everyone jumping on Mark must have voted correctly this month. Let the system work before throwing stones.
Or make false accusations while their own candidate gets off scott free.
Just calling it like I see it.

"............You Gotta Be Kidding Me! "............The ENTIRE financial and Banking Industry is face down in the mud, the markets have lost Trillions and a Million people are out of work with more to come because the Securities and Exchange Commission has had its head up its ass for how many years and they NOW want to point their finger at ONE GUY for insider trading??
This is the same organization, along with the Federal Reserve and the Treasury department, who fiddled while Rome burned. The Governmental organizations that let Wall Street hack and slash its way through our Economy?..................WOOOOOOOOOOOPPS !......" Well, Let's grab Mark Cuban for insider trading. " Who the hell is running the government? Who sets the PRIORITIES around there?
With the money he has he didn't need to do it if he did. But, if he's found out the he did it's all about greed.
I agree with one of you above-hilarious: with the crooks on Wall Street who sank the economy, and the Regulators derelict in their duties-we have time for this?? $750,000?? Probably one of his charitable causes got the proceeds. This is sick-Let's get the Wall Street Execs in the headlines first...cmon.
Behind every great fortune, there is a crime.

Yeah, Mark Cuban, the same guy who financed the disgusting anti-american film 'Redacted', which portrayed our own troops as murderers. Cuban sunk to the all-time low by this horrible act.
He is also cost his team the NBA championship against Miami heat, after the refs clearly paid him back for all years of immature verbal garbage directed by Cuban at them from the sidelines. Thanks for nothing Mark! His mouth is only exceeded in size by his self opinion.
Nobody should have sympathy for this guy, nobody.
Insider Trading is a big crime. The only equivalant crime is knowing the weather forecast from a friend in Meteorological Department and fleeing before the storm hits your home.
Since most government law inforcement couldn't find a battleship hidden under their pillow I'd bet this is a ruse to take attention away from the SEC,s short comings of the last few years. Musta learned from Slick Willy.
I think this is another attempt to point the finger at one person instead of focusing on the criminal activities of the senators who were in bed with the mortgage companies making sweetheart deals and liar loans...why isn't the Ethics committee looking into Franken's and other's conflict of interest and raping the American people of their tax dollers and financing these executives golden parachutes that we pay for and they get away with it. Come on...why are we not holding accountable and prosecuting the real criminals in our government who are defrauding our tax dollars and who feel they are entitled to our hard earned dollars. Mark Cuban didn't defraud the American people, he made an investment and sold when he saw which way the wind was blowing. Give me a break!
Most in the excutive branch and congress took their funds out of the market before it failed now the question is who told them.
Be careful all you circling trolls. Cuban didn't agree with the vision of the companies directors...so he punted... He said... "I'm out, you guys are idiots." and he sold his ownership in the company. So what? I don't believe in anything the government tries to sell me right now. Look at what they did to the global real estate and stock markets? Want to charge someone? Charge Barney Frank and George Bush for knowingly, and willingly, creating an entirely phony economy with borrowed money...
Erik, Yeah and you were there? Good Story, but I don't buy it!
What a Day!!!! I have been waiting for this blow hard to take a fall... MLB? Are you kidding! He would be throwing tomatos at the Umpires if the call doesn't go his way.. What a blow hard
Mark Cuban better not be above the law ... it's time these dispicable people get exactly what they deserve ... huge fines and jail time ... lots of jail time. He needs to be charged to the fullest extent of the law with absolutely no wiggle room. The SEC can also investigate every Congress and Senate member that continues to cheat; i.e. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd included.
I am still perplexed by all this "insider" trading crap. I see nothing wrong with it. If I am a stockholder and my broker calls me and tells me that my stock is going to take a big hit, or it is going to go way up, and to sell or buy, I consider that DOING THEIR JOB! They are SUPPOSED to know what they are doing and advise their customers. If I had a broker who had access to information that effected the value of stock I owned through him and he did Not pass that information along to me and it cost me big bucks, I would probably burn his house down! Same thing as a Manager in baseball, a Coach in footbal or basketball to my way of thinking. One depends on them to know what to do in certain situations and make the right call. Same thing with Stocks-the broker is the Manager or Coach. If he has information that will help me, the Stockholder, make a better decision, then it is his Duty to make that knowledge known. I see Nothing wrong with having information if it helps me make better decisions and saves me money. Think the Big Boys don't do it? If so, you are Really naive!!
